Emily Hummel, Softball
With a fifth-inning single in the first game of an April 5 doubleheader against Albertus Magnus, USJ senior Emily Hummel became the all-time hits leader in USJ softball history.
Her base hit up the middle was No. 146 of her career as she broke a tie with Mary Ann Parsons, who had 145 from 1999-2001. It was a signature moment in an outstanding career. Hummel has been named team MVP twice and been named All-GNAC Third team twice. She has led the team in batting average most of the season, hitting at a .400 clip.
"It was a great accomplishment for someone who has been an outstanding four-year player for us," USJ coach Jim McKinnon said. "She's one of the best all-around players at St. Joseph. Hitting, pitching and defensively, she's been a star."
