WEST HARTFORD, Conn., May 11, 2011 -- Saint Joseph College was named the winner of the annual GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship award for women's athletics, the league announced today.

Respect, fairness and graciousness are all taken into consideration when the GNAC selects recipients of the annual Sportsmanship Awards.

Saint Joseph College won the award for the second consecutive year.

"It's a great honor to be selected for the GNAC Sportsmanship Award for the second straight year," Saint Joseph College Athletic Director Bill Cardarelli said. "Once again our student athletes have shown the exceptional ability to compete at a high level while understanding how sportsmanship should always be incorporated into athletic competition."
