Hyde Named All-GNAC

University of Saint Joseph junior Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) was named Third Team All-Conference by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Monday.

Hyde averaged 12.9 points a game, which was second on the Blue Jays. She led the team averaging 6.6 rebounds a game and also led USJ with 89 assists and 68 steals on the season.

She became the first player in school history to record two triples-doubles and did so on consecutive days, Feb. 2-3. She had 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Emerson, then 24 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in a victory over Pine Manor. Hyde scored a career-high 27 points in a 72-60 victory over Lasell on Jan. 15 at home. She was also named Third Team All-GNAC last season.

“When you look at the players named and how talented they are, it’s an honor for Mary to be included,” USJ coach Kim Martin said. “But it’s a well-deserved honor after another outstanding season.”

Saint Joseph finished 14-11 overall, 6-6 in the GNAC and advanced to the GNAC tournament. The Blue Jays finished with a winning record for the third consecutive season, the first time that has happened in 15 years. USJ is 47-28 in the past three seasons.
