WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Four University of Saint Joseph swimmers will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Championships (NEISDA) beginning Friday at the University of Rhode Island.
Junior Rachel Mauthe (East Lyme, Conn.) and freshmen Annmarie Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) and Veronika Latawiec (Newington, Conn.) will each compete in three individual events and freshman Gabriella Alberino (East Haven, Conn.) will take part in four relays.
Competition begins Friday morning at 10 a.m. and continues through Sunday evening. Each day, qualifying is held in the morning with finals for each event taking place at night.
“I’m excited about our ability to perform well in the relays as all four are solid swimmers,” USJ Coach Brenda Straker said. “I’m hoping and expecting the best for the individual swims, also. We’ve been training since Sept. 28. I’m looking forward to what we can do and so are they.”
