WINTHROP Mass. - Freshman Nadir Dixon-Thompson (Dorchester, Mass.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference front office. It marks the third straight week to start the 2018-19 basketball season that the Blue Jays have earned a GNAC Rookie of the Week recipient.
Dixon-Thompson averaged a double-double on the week for the Blue Jays logging 12 points and 11 rebounds per game over a pair of contests. The 6-9 center from Dorchester, Mass. exploded on Sunday at Rhode Island College for his first career double-double with 20 points and 14 boards to lead the way for USJ after registering four points and eight caroms on Tuesday at Dean. On the week, the rookie shot 50.0% (10-20 FG) from the floor and hit all four of his attempts from the free-throw line.
USJ will wrap up its three-game road trip at U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (N.Y.) this Tuesday, November 27th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
