WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — University of Saint Joseph (USJ) head men's lacrosse coach Andrew Fink has been selected as a presenter at the upcoming 2022 USA Lacrosse Convention and Fan Fest (LaxCon). LaxCon is lacrosse's largest trade show and professional development convention, and will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md. January 14-16.
Fink will be presenting "Adjacent Defense" at this year's convention. It marks the 13th time that Fink has presented at LaxCon in his career, and his 12th in a row, with the last four comnig as a member of USJ Athletics. The presentation will be on day two of the event: Saturday, January 15, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in Rooms 307-308.
"To be selected once again is a huge honor," said Fink. "I hope this can really let people know about USJ, its growth, and the evolution of our men's lacrosse team."
Fink is the first-ever head men's lacrosse coach in USJ history, and has led the Blue Jays into battle since their inaugural season in 2020. He sports a 7-9 overall record in two abbreviated seasons as head coach of the Blue Jays (due to COVID-19), including a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinal appearance in 2021. Fink is also the newly appointed Recruiting Coordinator for USJ Athletics, and has also been the men's and women's cross country coach, as well as the interim women's lacrosse coach for one season. Fink joined the Blue Jays in 2018 after spending 16 years at Mount Ida College (15 as head coach) and he carries numerous accolades as a player and a coach onto the USJ Lacrosse Field.
"This has been a great annual thing for me. You learn from other coaches, and take something home for the playbook. It also helps me dig deeper and reflect on the schedule, the roster, and the season ahead. I am excited to be a 'normal' program knowing that we aren't a first-year team anymore. We hope to play a full season, as we have veteran guys now to mix in with a strong freshman class for the first time. I know the guys are going to get after it from the get-go."
The Blue Jays officially start practice on January 22, and open the season on Saturday, February 26 at 12:00 p.m. at Mitchell College, before heading home for their home opener against Nichols College at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3 on the USJ Lacrosse Field.
The USA Lacrosse Convention has been operating for nearly two decades and represents the best professional development conference in lacrosse. With nearly half a million members nationwide, their goal is to provide national leadership, structure, and resources to fuel the sport's growth and enrich player experience.
