Men's Swim & Dive Competes at 2018 Connecticut Cup

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team finished fourth out of five teams at the 2018 Connecticut Cup hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon inside Wesleyan Natatorium. The Blue Jays racked up 125 points on the day to earn the result.

 
HIGHLIGHTS
 
Freshman Jacob Wyse (Broad Brook, Conn.) crushed his personal-best time in the 400-yard IM by an astonishing 15 seconds, finishing sixth overall with a time of 4:30.61.
 
Wyse also made noise in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing 10th out of 21 swimmers with a time of 1:52.68.
 
Freshman Will Witkoski (Middlebury, Conn.) finished eighth in the 50-yard free after touching the wall in 23.76. He followed it up with a seventh-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly, hitting the finish in 26.93.
 
USJ concluded the day with the 400-yard free relay, finishing seventh of 11 with a final team time 3:38.17. The all-freshman squad was led by Brendan Lynch (Watertown, Conn.), Matt Gorman (Columbia, Conn.), Witkoski and Wyse.

The USJ men's swimming and diving team is off for the remainder of the calendar year before they embark on their first-ever Winter Training Trip to Dearfield Beach, Fla. on Wednesday, January 2 through Wednesday, January 9.
