Men's Swim Takes Fifth Place In Fifth Annual CT Cup

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team placed fifth of six schools in the fifth annual Connecticut Cup, hosted by Wesleyan University Saturday.

Sophomore Jacob Wyse (Broad Brook, Conn.) collected a pair of top-10 finishes in the event to lead the way for the Blue Jays, who were neck and neck with Western Conn. The Blue Jays are headed south for their annual winter trip to Florida. USJ will be training in Deerfield Beach from January 2 to January 9. They will return to the pool for competition on Friday, January 10 at Plymouth State at 3:30 p.m.

COACH QUOTE [Brenda Straker]
"I am pleased across the board, we had time drops in nearly every event. We have been gearing up for this, been working hard since September, we rested a bit more than usual for today, and that really seemed to click with them. We were noticed, and that's a good thing. We still have a lot of hard work to do, but it gives them that motivation heading into winter training."
