Men's Swim & Dive Makes Waves On Day One of GNAC's

WELLESLEY, Mass.— It was an impressive start for the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team, which is third after day one of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, held at the Boston Sports Institute (BSI) Wellesley Sports Center in Wellesley, Mass.

Saint Joseph showed some poise in the early going, taking home fourth in both relay events to tally up some points. Freshman Aaron Gauvin (Berlin, Conn.), sophomore captain Jack Monroe (Waterbury, Conn.), sophomore Brendan Lynch (Watertown, Conn.) and sophomore Jacob Wyse (Broad Brook, Conn.) completed the relay team.

Saint Joseph returns to the pool for day two of three of the GNAC Championships on Saturday, February 1, starting with prelims at 10:30 a.m., followed by one-meter diving finals at approximately 1:30 p.m., and then swimming finals commencing at 6:00 p.m. The three-day meet is being held at the Boston Sports Institute (BSI) Wellesley Sports Center in Wellesley, Mass.

KEY MOMENTS

  • The Blue Jays were fourth of six in the first relay, the 200 Freestyle, finishing in 1:35.50, good for 14 points.
  • In the 200 Medley Relay, Saint Joseph once again placed fourth, this time in 1:48.05, just over three seconds from a podium finish.

NUMBER TO KNOW

7- The Blue Jays sit seven points off second place overall in the GNAC Championships. They finished sixth last season.
