Laframboise Finishes Fourth, Earns All-Conference At 2021 GNAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. — The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's and women's cross country teams placed fifth and eighth respectively Saturday in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships, held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

The Blue Jays had a lot to contend with between the fierce GNAC competition and the not-so-ideal weather, but the growth of the program under head coach Andrew Fink was on full display Saturday, as freshman Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) finished in fourth place out of 63 runners in the men's 8K, just three seconds off a podium finish (29:01). Laframboise earned All-GNAC First Team honors with this one-of-a-kind run, a run that defines the type of season this freshman has had since arriving in West Hartford. The Blue Jays placed everyone else in the top-35 for a fifth place team finish in the overall standings (134 points). Colby-Sawyer won the GNAC Championship on the men's side with 44 points.

On the women's side, junior captain Morgan Hall (Norfolk, Conn.) took home 35th of 72 runners in the women's 6K (30:15). Her sister and fellow junior Madison Hall (Norfolk, Conn.) was next to cross the line for USJ in 48th place in 32:18. The Blue Jays finished eighth of nine schools with 228 points. Colby-Sawyer once again impressed by winning on the women's side as well, scoring 52 points.

[Andrew Fink] "It was an incredible day for our program. I am super proud of Braeden Laframboise and his dedication all season long. For a freshman to do what he did is super impressive. We have come a long way and have wanted to be in the conversation with these teams for quite some time. A really good season to build off of for sure."
