WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman catcher McKenna Driscoll (Bristol, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph softball team had a huge week offensively for the Blue Jays and was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for her efforts, it was announced by the league front office on Monday afternoon. It marks the first Rookie of the Week nod for Driscoll so far this season.
Driscoll hit for a .688 average (11-for-16) at the plate in a 3-3 week for the Blue Jays. She finished the week with an impressive .688/.762/1.000 slash line, belting three of her 11 hits for extra-bases, including a pair of triples. She scored five runs and drove in three RBI, while walking four times with one hit-by-pitch and struck out just once across 16 at-bats. She recorded at least one base knock in all six games on the week, highlighted by a pair of three-hit bids in a mid-week sweep of Mitchell College at home on Thursday. Her best performance came in the opener against the Mariners as she finished 3-for-4 with a triple, two-RBI and a run scored.
