Lacrosse Streak Ends Against Emerson, 18-5
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Emerson College women's lacrosse team built an early lead on the way to an 18-5 victory over the University of Saint Joseph Tuesday in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at St. Joseph.
Emerson improved to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the GNAC. Saint Joseph is 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the league.
Justine Mojsa (Newington, Conn.) had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jays, who had won their previous two games. Eliza Doane (Suffield, Conn.), Erika Leitao (Southington, Conn.), Dayna Gambino (Newington, Conn.) and Rachel Foster (Newington, Conn.) each had a goal for USJ.
Kanika Misra (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Tracie Lombardo (Seaford, N.Y.) led Emerson with four goals apiece. Libby Murphy (Avon, Conn.) started the scoring for the Lions with the first goal 30 seconds into the game. That started a run of 10 unanswered goals to begin the game before Mojsa scored for USJ with 11:02 left in the first half.
St. Joseph next plays at Emmanuel, Sat. March 30 at noon. The Blue Jays next play home, Mon. April 1, hosting Norwich at 4 p.m.
