WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Montminy (Vernon, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon following the opening weekend of play. It marks the first career GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week nod for Montminy after she didn't allow a single goal in her first two career starts and racked up 12 saves between the pipes for USJ.
Montminy didn't allow a goal in 127:06 of action between the pipes to start the 2019 season for the USJ women's soccer team. In her first two collegiate starts for the Blue Jays, she racked up 12 saves, which was good for the most by any GNAC keeper with an unblemished record over the opening weekend of play. In the season opener against Manhattanville on Friday, Montminy posted her first career clean sheet, blanking the Valiants over 90 minutes and making seven saves. She followed that up by stopping all five shots that she faced in 37:06 in a win at Nichols on Sunday.
USJ returns to the pitch on Wednesday with a midweek non-conference match at MCLA. Kick-off is slated for 5:00 p.m. between the Blue Jays and Trailblazers.
