WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Montminy (Vernon, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by GNAC officials. It marks the second career GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week nod for Montminy after she didn't allow a single goal on the week versus a pair of GNAC opponents and racked up 13 saves between the pipes for USJ.
Montminy stopped all 13 shots she faced en route to back-to-back 1-0 shutout victories over GNAC rivals Lasell and Colby-Sawyer last week. She opened the week with a stellar performance between the pipes on the road against GNAC power Lasell on Wednesday, matching her career-high of eight saves in the win. She followed that with five saves on Saturday for her third straight shutout at home versus Colby-Sawyer.
Among the GNAC league leaders in multiple categories, Montminy now has four shutouts on the year and a 7-1-0 record in goal, as the Blue Jays have started 8-1-0 for the first time since 2012. On the year, Montminy has allowed just four goals and racked up 41 saves for a .911 save percentage. She has a 0.54 goals-against average in 667 minutes between the pipes for the Blue Jays.
USJ returns to the pitch next on Wednesday with a GNAC match versus Anna Maria. Kick-off is slated for 2:30 p.m. between the Blue Jays and AMCATS.
