WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Sophomore Annmarie Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph swimming & diving team was named an NEISDA Women's All-New-England Swimmer, it was announced on Monday afternoon following the conclusion of the New England Championships held at the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 17-19.
Masayda was tabbed to the All-New England team after posting a top-eight finish in the 100 yard breaststroke. The Watertown product was the lone Blue Jay to compete in an a-final at the regional meet, finishing seventh out of 40 swimmers in the event after touching the wall with a career-best time of 1:11.14. She qualified for the a-final by posting the sixth fastest time in the preliminary round coming in at 1:11.51.
Masayda helped lead the Blue Jays to 176 total team points, good for a 16th place finish out of 21 women's teams at the regional meet. Additionally, Masayda was a member of the USJ 200 yard medley relay team that broke the school record as they Blue Jays went on to set four new school standards on the weekend.
