HIGHLIGHTS

It was a day filled with personal-bests and season-bests for USJ women's swimmers across the board, but none greater than the school records.

In the 200-yard free relay, the team of freshman Meghan Curtis (Bristol, Conn.), senior Annmarie Masayda (Watertown, Conn.), sophomore Alise Martel (Harwinton, Conn.), and senior Gabriella Alberino (East Haven, Conn.) smashed the school record by two seconds, with a final time of 1:44.96. Curtis also broke both the Freshman and Varsity 50 Free Record with her split time of 25.85 as the lead swimmer of the relay team.

In the 400 Medley Relay, freshman Mackenzie Stotler (New Hartford, Conn.), Masayda, Martel and Alberino were tenths of a second from setting the new school standard for the event with a finishing time of 4:23.86, good for a ninth place overall finish.

In the 100 Breaststroke, Martel continued her strong day, placed fifth overall, and set the new USJ freshman record with the time of 1:12.74, while Masayda finished right behind her in 6th with a time of 1:13.22.

Martel also logged a fifth place result in the Women's 50 Free after touching the wall with a time of 26.10.

In addition to her efforts in the relays, Masayda racked up personal bests in individual competition, finishing third in the Women's 50 Breaststroke with a time of 33.17, and sixth in the Women's 200 Breaststroke, hitting the finish with a time of 2:42.47.

Alberino added a season-best time of 2:23.59, good for seventh place in the Women's 200 IM and freshman Shelby Cios (Rocky Hill, Conn.) had a personal best (34.10), as she finished fifth in the Women's 50 Breaststroke.
