Blue Jays Finish Fifth In Roger Williams Invite Saturday

BRISTOL, R.I. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team took home a fifth-place finish in the Roger Williams University Invitational held inside the RWU Aquatics Center Saturday afternoon.

USJ scored 74 points on the day, tying UMass-Dartmouth for fifth-place overall in the standings. Roger Williams claimed the victory with 797 points. The Blue Jays were led by another freshman, this time by Ailey Driscoll (Bristol, Conn.), who collected three hard-fought swims in her individual events, and teamed up to take a fourth-place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Her individual swims included an 11th of 20 swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke (1:25.06), along with two 16th-place swims. Freshman Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.), sophomore Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.), and freshman Gabriela Targonska (Newington, Conn.) took on the challenge with Driscoll in the relay event for USJ.

The Blue Jays will look to continue their momentum at home on Friday, October 22 at 5:00 p.m. in the annual Blue Jay Pentathlon, held on the campus of USJ inside the Bruyette Natatorium.
