WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's tennis team claimed a 7-2 triumph at the Elizabeth Ferry Speer Tennis Complex Monday afternoon over Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) to pick up its first win of the 2021 season.

Junior Elaina Griffiths (Guilford, Conn.), just 48 hours removed from an exhausting tiebreaker match on Saturday, bounced back in dominant fashion Monday with a 6-1, 6-1 singles win to spark the Blue Jays.

COACH QUOTE [Karen Piazza] "It was a well-deserved win for us! Everybody was ready to go, and doubles came out with some very strong net play. I told them 'let's stay consistent today and patient, and be ready for that winning shot at just the right time.' We knew we needed to stay positive heading into this one."
