Volleyball Wins Two More

CHICOPEE, Mass. – University of Saint Joseph freshman Sarah Lipinski (Farmington, Conn.) had a huge day with a combined 17 kills, 25 digs, nine aces and seven blocks as the Blue Jays swept Elms and Becker in a volleyball tri-match Saturday at Elms.

USJ defeated Becker by set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 and beat Elms 25-11, 25-17, 25-9. USJ, on its second three-match winning streak of the season, improved to 8-6 overall. Becker is 7-8 and Elms is 3-12.

Lipinski started the day with 11 kills, 14 digs, four aces and three blocks against Becker. Tiffany Mapusaga (Waianae, Haw.) had 13 digs, 12 assists and six kills for the Blue Jays. USJ served 16 aces in the three sets as Carly Ruzbasan (Torrington, Conn.) and Cinthia Vega-Ortiz (Waterbury, Conn.) also had four apiece and Mapusaga three.

Against Elms, Lipinski had six kills, 11 digs, five aces and four blocks and Mapusaga had seven kills and 10 digs. Cassandra Grimaldi (Manchester, Conn.) had six kills and four blocks for USJ, Emily Vigue (Lebanon, Conn.) had six kills and 11 digs and Hannah Lemek (Bristol, Conn.) contributed five kills.

USJ hosts Curry Tue, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
