Tompkins Leads Cross Country at Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph cross country team competed at the annual James Early Invitational Saturday, hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park.

Mia Tompkins (Meriden, Conn.) was the first USJ runner to finish and placed 46th in a field of 409 runners in the 39-team event. She ran the 5K course in 20:07.08.

Madison Boyce (East Hampton, Conn.), Alyssa Vereneau (Newington, Conn.), Bridget Saur (South Windsor, Conn.) and Jessica Jordan (Wallingford, Conn.) all earned scoring spots for USJ.

The Blue Jays finished 29th in the team competition.

USJ next runs at Western New England, Sat. Oct. 17 in a 10:30 a.m. start.
