WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - After posting an impressive top-20 performance this past Saturday at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park, senior Kaneen Gomez-Hixson of the University of Saint Joseph cross country team was named the GNAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Gomez-Hixson, a Wethersfield, CT and Singapore American School product, paced the way once again for the Blue Jays on Saturday at the James Earley Invitational and turned in yet another impressive performance, finishing 17th overall out of 459 total runners. The veteran logged a time of 22:54.03 for the top-20 result and helped the USJ cross country team to a 27th place finish out of 41 teams at the meet.
On the season to date, the senior hasn't finished outside of the top-20 through six meets and has posted three victories and one runner-up finish. She will look to keep things rolling as she is one of the favorites and defending individual champion at the GNAC Championships. The championship meet is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.
