WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior Kaneen Gomez-Hixson (Wethersfield, CT/Singapore American School) of the University of Saint Joseph cross country team picked up her second straight GNAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award after posting another impressive performance this past Saturday at the Western New England Invitational, the conference front office announced on Monday afternoon.
The veteran paced the Blue Jays on Saturday turning in yet another top-20 performance in a meet that featured 242 total runners. The defending GNAC Runner of the Week picked up right where she left off finishing 10th overall with a time of 19:49 and a mile pace of 6:23. On the season to date, Gomex-Hixson has now recorded top-20 finishes in all seven meets with three first place finishes and one runner-up performance.
She helped lead her Blue Jays team to a ninth place overall finish out of 28 teams at the Western New England Invitational and she will look to guide her team to a solid finish when Gomex-Hixson and the rest of the USJ cross country team returns to action next with the GNAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.
