Tennis Team Edged by Anna Maria, 5-4

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Saint Joseph College tennis team dropped a hard-fought, 5-4 decision Wednesday to visiting Anna Maria in a GNAC match. 

Meghan Toth (Naugatuck, Conn.) took a straight set win at No. 1 singles for the Blue Jays. Kameshia Cooper (Beacon, N.Y.) earned a victory in a third-set tiebreaker and Emily Chenard (Meriden, Conn.) won in two sets for Saint Joseph, which split the six singles matches with Anna Maria. 

Chenard and Lisa Wawrzynowski (Newington, Conn.) teamed to grab the lone win in doubles for the Blue Jays in the #2 match. 

Anna Maria improved to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the GNAC. Saint Joseph is 2-8 and 0-5 in league play. The Blue Jays lost 9-0 to Western New England in its prior outing.

Saint Joseph hosts Western Conn., Thursday at 4 p.m.
