Tennis Edged by Anna Maria, 5-4
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Anna Maria College Saturday in a GNAC match at home.
Anna Maria improved to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the GNAC. Saint Joseph is 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
Rebecca Mauri (Meriden, Conn.) was a double winner for USJ earning a victory at No. 2 singles and teaming with Emely Chenard (Meriden, Conn.) for a win at No. 2 doubles. Serena Sundara (Windsor, Conn.) and Monica Palmieri (Bristol, Conn.) earned singles wins at No. 5 and No. 6 with Palmieri earning her first collegiate singles win.
The matched hinged on three singles matches that went to third sets, with the Amcats picking up two wins.
Saint Joseph hosts UMass-Dartmouth Sun. October 13 at noon.
