WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Ciara Perez (Manchester, Conn.) had 16 kills to lead the University of Saint Joseph to its best hitting match of the season as the Blue Jays defeated Becker 3-0 Monday in a non-conference volleyball match at the O'Connell Center.
Scores by set were 25-17, 25-18, 25-18.
On the night, Saint Joseph put away 41 kills against only 18 hitting errors on 97 total swings. Emily Vigue (Lebanon, Conn.) had eight kills for Saint Joseph and Samantha Edwon (Beacon Falls, Conn.) added seven.
The Blue Jays also had a season-high with 15 service aces including six from Rebecca DiPinto (Burlington, Conn.) and three each from Marie DiPinto (Burlington, Conn.) and Vigue. Elizabeth Tuazon (Mystic, Conn.) had a match-high 15 digs and Megan Williams (Lakeville, Conn.) had 30 assists and 11 digs.
Saint Joseph improved to 3-11 overall; Becker is 1-12.
Saint Joseph plays at Southern Maine, Sat. Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. and next plays home against Anna Maria, Wed. Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
