Scalia Named GNAC Baseball Player of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior outfielder Dom Scalia (Northford, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) baseball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon in its second weekly report of the 2026 season. The honor marks the first GNAC weekly award of Scalia's career and the second weekly accolade earned by the Blue Jays this year.
Scalia put together an outstanding week across two games, highlighted by a walk‑off solo home run, as the Blue Jays went 2–0 to extend their winning streak to four to open the 2026 campaign. The senior went 4-for-6 (.667) at the plate with a .750 on-base percentage and a 1.500 slugging percentage. Two of his four hits went for extra bases, including a triple and his first home run of the season. He also scored three runs and drove in three.
Scalia opened the week by going 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and two runs scored in an 8–7 home win over Nichols this past Wednesday. He followed with another 2-for-3 performance this past Sunday, adding an RBI and a run scored, capped by a one‑out walk‑off solo home run in the bottom of the final inning to lift the Blue Jays past Mount St. Joseph in their opening game of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
Through the first four games of the season, Scalia is batting .500 (7-for-14) with a .611 on-base percentage and a .929 slugging percentage. Three of his seven hits have gone for extra bases, and he leads the team with seven RBI and five runs scored.

The Blue Jays continue play at the RussMatt Invitational on Monday, March 9, when they take on Russell Sage College. First pitch between the Blue Jays and Gators is set for 5:00 p.m. at Northeast Regional Park Field 1 in Davenport, Fla.
