USJ broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second inning and never eased off the gas, erupting for five runs to seize early control. The inning was powered by RBI doubles from junior infielder Tyler Carlstrom (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and junior outfielder Joseph Fritz (Tampa, Fla.).

The Blue Jays broke the game wide open in the fourth inning, plating 10 runs to extend their lead to 15–0.

USJ struck first again in the bottom of the second inning, when Carlstrom ripped an RBI double to right‑center field to give the Blue Jays a 1–0 lead.

Carlstrom came through once more in the fourth, adding an RBI single to double the lead. Later in the frame, Kane delivered the big blow with a bases‑clearing double down the left‑field line, pushing the advantage to 5–0.

Norwich responded with two runs in the fifth, but the Blue Jays answered immediately. Sophomore catcher Jack Kushman (Southington, Conn.) launched the first home run of his career, a towering two‑run shot to extend the lead to 7–2.

The Cadets added two runs in the eighth to trim the deficit to 7–4, but USJ responded in the bottom of the inning as Kane delivered an RBI single to provide an insurance run and seal the 8–4 victory.
