Cahill, Balducci Earn GNAC Baseball Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior pitcher Brandon Cahill (Meriden, Conn.) and freshman infielder Sam Balducci (South Windsor, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) baseball team have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Monday in its sixth weekly report of the 2026 season.
 
The honor marks the third consecutive week Cahill has earned Pitcher of the Week and the fourth time this season, as well as the fourth of his career, while Balducci collected the first GNAC weekly award of his collegiate career
 
 
Cahill continued his dominant senior campaign for USJ, improving to 6–0 on the season with another stellar performance on the mound in an 11–0 victory over Dean College on Friday, April 3.
 
The senior right‑hander tossed his fifth consecutive complete game, scattering just two hits and allowing no earned runs for the fourth straight outing while striking out nine over seven innings. He finished the day with a 0.00 ERA and an 11.57 K/9, anchoring the Blue Jays' staff in their fifth GNAC victory.
 
Cahill currently leads the GNAC in wins (6) and strikeouts (51) while ranking second in ERA at 0.92. He has now pitched 28.1 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
 
Balducci continued to make an immediate impact in his rookie campaign, batting .391 with a .500 on‑base percentage and .522 slugging percentage during a 5–2 week for the Blue Jays.
 
The freshman opened his week by going 4‑for‑9 with three doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored in a split doubleheader at New England College on Monday, March 30. He followed with a 1‑for‑2 performance that included a walk and a run scored in a midweek loss at Clark University on April 1.
 
Balducci capped his week by going 4‑for‑10 with a walk and an RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Dean College on Friday, April 3.

The Blue Jays return to action on Wednesday, April 8, taking on cross‑town rival Trinity College in a midweek non‑conference matchup. First pitch between USJ and the Bantams is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium in Hartford, Conn.
