Field Hockey Wins Third Straight in Overtime Thriller at Mount Holyoke Tuesday Night

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Freshman forward Juliana Meglio (Watertown, Conn.) delivered the game-winner with just 1:15 remaining in the first sudden-victory overtime period, lifting the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) field hockey team to a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Mount Holyoke College on the road Tuesday evening in non-conference action at the Mount Holyoke Turf and Track Complex in South Hadley, Mass.

The Blue Jays (3-1) battled back from a pair of deficits to secure their third-straight win of the season. In the extra session, senior defender Devan Fox (Granville, Mass.) sent a well-placed entry pass into the circle, where Meglio redirected the ball in front of the cage. The ball arced over both Meglio and the Mount Holyoke goalkeeper, dropping into the net to seal the win.

Sophomore forward Grace Kociszewski (Thomaston, Conn.) continued her strong start to the 2025 season, scoring twice for USJ, including the equalizer with 9:20 left in regulation. After a long entry ball from sophomore midfielder Kaitlin Trudeau (Bernardston, Mass.), Kociszewski's initial shot was stopped, but she pounced on the rebound and buried her fifth goal of the year to tie the game at 2-2.

Kociszewski also netted USJ's first goal in the fifth minute, catching up to another long ball from Trudeau and finishing past the Mount Holyoke keeper to level the score at 1-1 in the first quarter.

Despite being outshot 25-12 and trailing 14-2 in penalty corners, the Blue Jays showed resilience and efficiency in the attacking zone. Junior goalkeeper Jaci Felix-Hull (East Lyme, Conn.) was outstanding in net, recording 10 saves to keep USJ within striking distance throughout the match.
