Brittian Named GNAC Men's Basketball Rookie Of The Week
WINTHROP, Mass. - Sophomore forward Lucius Brittian (Mansfield, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office on Monday afternoon in its third weekly report of the 2021-22 season. It marks the first career GNAC weekly honor for Brittian and the first for the nationally-ranked USJ men's basketball team this year.
Brittian was a powerhouse Sunday afternoon, helping propel USJ to its fifth straight victory to start the 2021-22 season, as the Blue Jays defeated crosstown rival and NESCAC opponent Trinity College, 79-59, in their lone game of the week. Brittian, a Mansfield native and transfer from Concordia College following the abbreviated 2020-21 season, filled up the stat sheet, finishing with a career-high 16 points on 5-for-6 (83.3%) shooting from the floor and 6-for-7 (85.7%) from the charity stripe. Additionally, he pulled down a career-high eight rebounds, dished out a career-best six assists, and registered a pair of blocks in 29 minutes of floor time in the triumph en route to earning his first career GNAC Rookie of the Week honor.
The ninth-ranked Blue Jays are off to their best start in program history at 5-0 with quality non-conference wins over well-known regional opponents Babson, Tufts, and Trinity so far this season. Brittian has been a key addition to the roster providing an additional post presence for the Blue Jays, and he is averaging 9.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game through the opening five games of the 2021-22 campaign.

Brittian and the Blue Jays now prepare to open their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) slate, as they head to Dean College to take on the Bulldogs. That matchup will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 in Franklin, Mass.
