NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's lacrosse team had its work cut out for them in a rematch with one of the top teams in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), the defending champions Norwich University (NOR), but could not get the job done, falling to the Cadets, 18-3, on Sabine Field Saturday afternoon.
Junior attackman Matt Guerin (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was the high scorer for the Blue Jays, netting two goals. Norwich was led by senior midfielder Russell Gilligan (Fountain Hills, Ariz.), scoring four goals, while senior attackman Payden Masaracchia (Enola, Pa.) who scored nine goals last time out against USJ, was one of three other Cadets to net three on the day.
Norwich, now back on its home field, did not let the Blue Jays hang around this time, as they shutout USJ through three periods, scoring 14 unanswered goals to start the game. Saint Joseph did score three goals in the fourth, but the damage had already been done.

BATTLE AT THE 'X'

The USJ men's lacrosse team continues its five-game road trip to cap the 2021 season, heading next to Emmanuel for a matchup with the Saints on Tuesday, April 20. The opening faceoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. under the lights.
