Allo Earns GNAC Athlete of the Week Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. - Graduate student Michael Allo (Newington, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's swimming and diving team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday night in its first swimming and diving weekly report of the 2022-23 season. It marks the first career GNAC weekly award for Allo, and the first for the Blue Jays this season.
Allo started his USJ career off strong, leading the Blue Jays in their opening three meets. Most recently, he won the Blue Jay Pentathlon after posting a combined time of 2:48.47 across five 50-yard events. Allo also led the Blue Jays at the Roger Williams Invitational, finishing eighth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:57.86, while finishing seventh in the 50-yard free in a time of 24.08 and a ninth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.71.
Allo also paced USJ in the season-opening double dual meet against Regis and UNE as he took home the gold in the 200-yard free, finishing in a time of 1:56.35, while finishing second in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 29.41, and winning the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:03.63.

Allo and the Blue Jays return to the pool next Saturday, October 29 for a dual meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Norwich in Northfield, Vt. The meet against the Cadets is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
