Bio

Alexandra Albert enters her fifth season as head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs at University of Saint Joseph in 2026–27 after joining the Blue Jays in September 2022. She became the fourth head coach in the history of the women’s program and the second in the history of the men’s program. In addition to her coaching duties, Albert also serves as USJ’s Aquatics Director.

Albert wasted little time turning around the Blue Jays program, guiding both the men’s and women’s teams to second-place finishes at the 2025–26 GNAC Championships — the best results in program history. She was also named Men’s Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year for the 2025–26 season. Under her leadership, USJ swimmers have consistently shattered program records.

Albert took over the USJ swimming and diving programs after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Central Connecticut State University under head coach Bill Ball. At CCSU, she contributed to all facets of the program, including student-athlete development, recruiting, and operations. She made an immediate impact with the Blue Devils, helping the team improve from a fourth-place finish in the Northeast Conference (NEC) to runner-up honors in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Albert has served as a USA club swimming coach for more than 15 years. She began her coaching career with the Plainville YMCA Tigersharks before moving to the highly successful Blue Devil Aquatics/GRIT Aquatics program in New Britain, Connecticut. Albert served as the head senior coach, and during her tenure, three athletes qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, while others advanced to the Junior National and U.S. National Championships.

As a student-athlete at CCSU, Albert was a member of the 2008 NEC and ECAC championship team and was named NEC Rookie of the Year that same season.

Originally from Wethersfield, Albert earned her bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism from CCSU in 2011. She now resides in Wethersfield with her husband, Dylan, daughter, Freya, and dog, Jake.
