Craig Davidson Transitions to Full-Time Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Department of Athletics has announced that Craig Davidson will transition into the role of head coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs, Associate Vice President of Athletics and Recreation Amanda Devitt officially announced. Davidson, who has led the USJ men's tennis program since its inception in 2019-20, becomes the fifth head coach in the history of the Blue Jays' women's tennis program.
"We're thrilled to have Craig step into this expanded role leading both our men's and women's tennis programs," Devitt said. "He has done an outstanding job building a strong culture, developing student-athletes, and elevating our men's program, and we're excited for that same energy and vision to positively impact our women's team."
As a head coach at USJ, Davidson has guided the Blue Jays to the postseason in every season and has compiled a 27-27 overall record.
During his three seasons leading the men's tennis program, Davidson has coached five All-Conference selections, including 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) First Team honoree Karol Romer. His student-athletes have also earned 10 Conference Player of the Week awards, 10 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete honors, four Conference All-Academic selections, and two College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
Davidson has also coached adult and junior teams for the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and spent one season as the head men's tennis coach at John Jay College in New York City. During the 2009-10 season, he led the Bloodhounds to a 10-4 overall record and a 6-2 mark in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play. He guided the team to the CUNYAC semifinals and saw five student-athletes earn All-Conference honors. Two players were named Academic All-Americans.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Davidson has served as a tennis professional at the Enfield Tennis Club and Suffield Country Club, as well as head professional at Litchfield Country Club and the JCC Swim/Tennis Club. He is currently the founder and owner of LOVE TENNIS LLC and serves as the program director of the ACEing Autism West Hartford/USJ program. In addition, Davidson is also currently in his third year as a tennis pro at Magic Lincer Tennis Club in Manchester.
A West Hartford native and graduate of Hall High School, Davidson was a top-10 USTA New England junior player from 1990-98 and ranked among the top 120 nationally. He won the 1997 CIAC Class L Boys Tennis State Championship and was recruited to play Division I collegiate tennis.
