Kavanaugh, Laframboise Pick Up GNAC Weekly Honors
WINTHROP, Mass. - Junior David Kavanaugh (West Hartford, Conn.) and freshman Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's cross country team each picked up a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly award, it was announced on Monday afternoon in the league's third weekly report of the 2021 season. Kavanaugh was named the GNAC Men's Runner of the Week and Laframboise was tabbed the GNAC Men's Rookie of the Week after helping lead the men's cross country team to a first-place finish this past Friday at the 2021 Blue Jay Invitational.
Kavanaugh claimed his third career first-place finish and registered back-to-back victories at the Blue Jay Invitational after breaking the tape and besting the field Friday afternoon at the 2021 Blue Jay Invitational en route to earning GNAC Men's Runner of the Week honors. Kavanaugh jumped out to an early lead and was never threatened in the 5K meet at home around the campus of USJ, finishing with a time of 17:04.9 (5:29.9 mile pace) to earn the gold medal. His result helped aid the Blue Jays to first-place team result to boot, as USJ defended its home course against Dean College, Mitchell College, and Lasell University. It marks Kavanaugh's sixth career GNAC weekly award.
Laframboise finished runner-up in his second career collegiate meet, claiming the silver medal on Friday afternoon at the Blue Jay Invitational with a final 5K time of 17:19.6, to earn the GNAC Men's Rookie of the Week accolade. Laframboise finished just behind Kavanaugh on the Blue Jays' home course and helped USJ claim a first-place team result in its annual home meet around campus. Laframboise averaged a 5:34.6 mile pace to earn the runner-up result and his first career GNAC weekly award.

Kavanaugh, Laframboise, and the Blue Jays will be back in action next on Saturday, September 25 in the Blazer Classic Invitational, at 11:00 a.m., held at Chicopee Memorial State Park in Chicopee, Mass.
