Laframboise Earns Second GNAC Rookie Of The Week Nod
WINTHROP, Mass - Freshman Braeden Laframboise (Southington, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men's cross country team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Rookie of the Week, it was announced via a release by the conference front office on Monday afternoon. It marks the second GNAC Rookie of the Week honor for Laframboise this season through the first six weeks of the 2021 cross country campaign.
Laframboise led the way for the Blue Jays this past weekend at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. on Saturday. The freshman phenom continued his torrid start to his collegiate career at USJ finishing in 46th place out of 164 total runners at the meet en route to earning his second career GNAC Rookie of the Week nod. The Southington product completed the 8K race crossing the finish line in 27:44.0 which equates to a stellar 5:34.7 mile pace. The 8K time is a new men's cross country program record as Laframboise shattered the 8K record he set two weeks prior at the Blazer Classic Invitational by over a minute.
