Antonowicz, Roberts, Zup Named to NFCA All-Region I Third Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Seniors Alyssa Roberts (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Jenna Zup (Berlin, Conn.) and sophomore Jennifer Antonowicz (Wolcott, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region I Third Team for the 2025 season, it was announced by the association Friday. The honor marks the third, fourth and fifth NFCA All-Region awards for USJ in program history, and the first time that multiple Blue Jays received recognition.

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region. All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced May 28 online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet in Bloomington, Ill.

Roberts earned her second NFCA All-Region distiniction of her career after a stellar 2025 campaign. The senior, who was named to the All-Region I Second Team in 2023, received the nod at the Utility/Pitcher position. Roberts paced the team at the plate, recording a .400 batting average and 29 RBIs. She also tallied 10 runs scored, six doubles, two triples, nine walks, a .448 on-base percentage and a .495 slugging percentage. In the circle, the Naugatuck, Conn., native paced the staff with a 3.25 ERA, an 8-7 record, three saves, 10 complete games and 41 strikeouts across 103.1 innings. Her ERA ranked seventh in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), and her batting average placed 13th. The accolade is the second for ROberts this season, as she was recently named to the All-GNAC Third team.

Zup enjoyed a stellar senior season for the Blue Jays, slashing .373/.412/.478 with a team-high 50 hits. The shortstop also recorded 33 runs scored, six doubles, five triples, one home run, 19 RBIs, a team-best 18 walks and six stolen bases. Her hit total ranked 10th in the GNAC, while she finished seventh in runs scored. Defensively, Zup posted a career-high 87 putouts, 74 assists and a .947 fielding percentage. The honor marks the first NFCA All-Region distinction of her career. The accolade is the second for Zup this season, as she was recently named to the All-GNAC Second team.

Antonowicz had a breakout campaign for USJ in 2025, notching a .388 batting average while recording a team-high 50 hits, 34 runs scored, seven doubles, seven triples and 17 stolen bases. The sophomore also tallied 26 RBI, seven walks, a .413 on-base percentage and a team-best .550 slugging percentage. Defensively, Antonowicz posted a career-high 78 putouts, 53 assists and a .963 fielding percentage. The honor marks the first NFCA All-Region distinction of her career. 

The Blue Jays rounded out the 2025 season with a 18-17 record overall, including a 9-7 mark in conference play, earning USJ the South Division third seed in the GNAC Playoffs. The Blue Jays would breeze through the Pod Play rounds, winning three-straight games to advance to the GNAC Championship Series. USJ would win the opening game against Johnson & Wales University, but dropped the remaining two contests of the best-of-three series, to see their remarkable postseason run come to an end.
