Browne Tabbed GNAC Softball Rookie of the Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman infielder Gracie Browne (Bristol, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) softball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon in its sixth weekly report of the 2026 season. The honor marks the first GNAC weekly award of Browne's career and the first this season for the USJ softball program.

Browne paced the Blue Jays at the plate during a perfect 4–0 week, slashing .700/.750/1.000 with seven hits, one double, one triple, four RBI, four runs scored, and two walks.

She opened the week with a 1-for-1 performance in a 2–0 victory against Bay Path University, recording a triple and drawing a walk. Browne followed with a 2-for-3 outing in the second game of the doubleheader, driving in one run.

The freshman infielder carried that momentum into a doubleheader against Purchase College, opening the day with a perfect 3-for-3 performance that included one double, two RBI, one walk, and three runs scored. Browne capped the week with a 1-for-3 effort in the finale against the Panthers, adding another RBI.

On the season, the Bristol, Conn., native is batting .361/.489/.472 with 13 hits, 12 runs scored, two doubles, one triple, and eight RBI.

Browne and the Blue Jays conclude an eight-game homestand, hosting GNAC South Division foe Elms College for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 8. First pitch against the Blazers at the USJ Softball Field is set for 3:00 p.m.
