Basketball Tripped Up by Trinity, 74-62

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Taylor Murtaugh (New York, N.Y.) had 23 points and eight rebounds as the Trinity College women's basketball team defeated the University of Saint Joseph 74-62 Monday in a non-conference game at the O'Connell Center.

Moriah Sweeney (Ramsey, N.J.) and Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) both scored 12 for Trinity and Mackenzie Griffin (Stamford, Conn.) had eight points and 12 rebounds for the Bantams.

Heather Framski (Prospect, Conn.) led St. Joseph with 23 points and seven rebounds and Devon Diliberto scored 21 for the Blue Jays.

St. Joseph had a three-game winning streak snapped. Both teams are 6-5.

Trinity trailed for only 40 seconds in the first half and built a 26-9 lead after 12 minutes as Brickley scored eight early points. USJ stayed in the game and trailed 38-27 at halftime.

USJ got within eight in the second half twice, the final time at 52-44 on a Framski jumper with 9:25 to play, but the Blue Jays got no closer. Trinity outrebounded USJ 43-27 and had a 44-18 advantage on points in the paint.

USJ plays at Eastern Wed. Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. Trinity hosts Williams, Fri. Jan. 10 at 6 p.m.
