Bergeron Named NEISDA Diver Of The Week Wednesday

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior diver and captain Brielle Bergeron (Easthampton, Mass.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team was selected as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Women's Diver of the Week for week six of the 2021-2022 season, announced Wednesday by association officials.

OFFICIAL NEISDA RELEASE

Bergeron was stellar in her performance, winning both the one and three-meter diving events in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-meet at Colby-Sawyer (CSC) with Albertus Magnus College (AMC) on November 12, which the Blue Jays split in the overall standings (CSC 159, USJ 92 | USJ 139, AMC 119). Bergeron executed six dives for the first time off the three-meter without any practice on that particular board. She made a consistent effort throughout the meet, not just the diving board, contributing in the 200 Backstroke and 200 Medley Relay events. Bergeron has won several NEISDA weekly honors before in her four years on the swim team. She was most recently named to the 2020-21 NESIDA All-Academic Team, along with eight other teammates from both the men's and women's swimming & diving teams last season. Bergeron is a 'Western Mass' native majoring in Nursing.

Founded in 1920, the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association is a coach-run association made up of member institutions in New England. NEISDA annually sponsors and administers a championship for those qualifying swimmers and divers in February.
