Bergeron Claims Second NEISDA Weekly Award Of The Season

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior diver and captain Brielle Bergeron (Easthampton, Mass.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team was selected as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Women's Diver of the Week for week eight of the 2021-2022 season, announced Wednesday by league officials.

OFFICIAL NEISDA RELEASE

Bergeron, who was won two of the last three weekly NEISDA Women's Diver nods, had a highlight-worthy performance for USJ in the annual Connecticut Cup, held on the campus of Wesleyan University on December 4. She was the high scorer overall for Saint Joseph, in particular finishing fourth from the three-meter diving board with a score of 161.15, a season-high (13 points), and on a board she cannot practice on (her only reps are during events on this particular board). Fifth and sixth were less than 10 points behind in a true battle on the board in this one. Those late 13 points were just enough to tie the Blue Jays with Western Connecticut State for seventh place in the overall standings in a highly-competitive event. Bergeron also made waves on the one-meter board, scoring valuable points for the visitors. Bergeron, a multi-time NEISDA award winner in her four years on the swimming & diving team, is a 'Western Mass' native majoring in Nursing.

Founded in 1920, the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association is a coach-run association made up of member institutions in New England. NEISDA annually sponsors and administers a championship for those qualifying swimmers and divers in February.
