Bergeron Tabbed Women's Swim & Dive GNAC Athlete Of The Week
WINTHROP, Mass. - Senior diver Brielle Bergeron (Easthampton, Mass.) of the University of Saint Joseph women's swimming and diving team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league's front office in its ninth weekly report of the 2021-22 season. It marks the first-ever GNAC Athlete of the Week nod for Bergeron in her career and the first for the women's swimming and diving program this season.
Bergeron had herself a Senior Night to remember, going out in style in her final meet inside the Bruyette Natatorium by breaking both of USJ's 1-meter diving records in a dual meet versus Eastern Connecticut Friday evening. Bergeron shattered the 1-meter 6-dive school record with a score of 242.40 and followed that up by demolishing the 1-meter 11-dive record with a total score of 414.40 in route to earning her first career GNAC Athlete of the Week honor.
The school standards were previously held by standout USJ diver Andrea LeClair since the 2000-01 season. LeClair had scores of 213.45 in the 1-meter 6-dive event and 347.45 in the 1-meter 11-dive event prior to Bergeron eclipsing them against Eastern Connecticut last Friday night.
