Women's Swimming & Diving Competes at RWU Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team continued its 2022-23 season at the Roger Williams Invitational at the RWU Aquatics Center in Bristol, R.I., this afternoon. The Blue Jays finished in seventh place, tallying 89 points on the day.

TOP PERFORMANCES 

• 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Gabriela Targonska (Newington, Conn.) Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Morgan Beebe (Ellington, Conn.) finished in sixth place, posting a time of 2:12.81. 

• 200 Yard Free – Mamica paced USJ in the 200 Yard Freestlye, finishing in 19th after posting a time of 2:24.88. Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.) also took part in the event, placing 25th with a time of 2:32.13 

• 200 Yard IM – Violette topped the timing sheet for Blue Jay finishers, placing 17th after posting a time of 2:41.20. Targonska trailed closely behind, recording a time of 2:45.57 to finish in 20th. 

• 50 Yard Free – Targonska placed the highest for USJ in the event, notching a time of 29.87 seconds to finish in 18th. 

• 100 Yard Free – Violette paced the Blue Jays, finishing 18th in a time of 1:06.20. 

• 500 Yard Free – Mamica would top the timing sheet for USJ in the 500-yard freestyle, recording a time of 6:24.74 to finish in 19th. 

• 200 Yard Free Relay– The team of Beebe, Emily Beyer (Prospect, Conn.), Emily Poisson (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Norah Smith (Pelham, N.H.) finished in sixth place, posting a time of 2:26.70. 

• 100 Yard Backstroke – Targonska lead the Blue Jays, coming in 12th place in a time of 1:12.11. Violette followed closely behind, finishing 13th with a time of 1:12.60.  

• 100 Yard Breaststroke – Mamica paced USJ in the event, finishing in 18th after recording a time of 1:25.67. 

• 400 Yard Free Relay – The team of Angelina Bernardi (Middlebury, Conn.), Marcille, Beyer and Deanna Prescott (Rocky Hill, Conn.), finished in fifth place after recording a time of 4:47.71.
