Women's Swimming & Diving Defeats Albertus Magnus, Falls to SJC Friday Night

STANDISH, Maine. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming & diving team split a double dual-meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes, Saint Joseph's College of Maine (SJC) and intrastate rivals Albertus Magnus College (AMC), Friday night inside the Harold Alfond Center in Standish, Maine. The Blue Jays fell to the host Monks, 128-65, while defeating the Falcons, 109-61.

TOP PERFORMANCES

  • 200 Yard Medley Relay – The team of junior Amy Mamica (Rocky Hill, Conn.), sophomore Julianna Violette (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and freshmen Kaia Michaud (Hamden, Conn.) and Alexia Grech (Burlington, Conn.) finished in second-place, combining for a time of 2:07.51.
  • 1000 Yard Free – Senior Adelina Marcille (Waterford, Conn.) paced USJ in the event, finishing in fourth place in a time of 13:42.09. Junior Emily Beyer (Prospect, Conn.) finished in fifth place after touching the wall in a time of 14:44.09.
  • 200 Yard Free – Mamica won the event for USJ for the second-straight meet, touching the wall in a time of 2:12.84.
  • 50 Yard Free – Michaud paced USJ in the event, recording a second-place finish after touching the wall in a time of 27.91 seconds.
  • 100 Yard IM – Violette topped the timing sheet for USJ, notching a third-place finish with a time of 1:12.23.
  • 100 Yard Fly – Freshman Jodie Hammond (Newington, Conn.) won the event for USJ, touching the wall in a time of 1:30.23.
  • 100 Yard Free –Michaud continued her impressive night, finishing in second after posting a time of 1:02.88.
  • 100 Yard Back– Freshman Isabella Castrillo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was the lone Blue Jay in the event, finishing in fourth with a time of 1:39.42.
  • 500 Yard Free – Mamica lead the way for the Blue Jays, finishing in second after posting a time of 6:07.83.
  • 100 Yeard Breaststroke – Castrillo recorded a third-place finish, touching the wall in a time of 1:30.36.
  • 400 Yard Free Relay – The team of Marcille, Violette, Bernardi and Beyer took finished in third place after combining for a time of 4:38.62.

UP NEXT

The Blue Jays return to West Hartford, taking on fellow GNAC member Norwich University on Friday, November 17. The dual meet against the Cadets inside Bruyette Natatorium is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
