Niemczyk Named GNAC Rookie of the Week for Second Consecutive Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman Alina Niemczyk (Vernon, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week it was announced by the conference front office on Monday afternoon in its second weekly report of the 2024-25 season. The honor marks the second time that Niemczyk earned a weekly conference accolade in her career.
Niemczyk continued her strong start to her collegiate career, pacing the Blue Jays at the Blue Jay Pentathlon, finishing in fifth place. She tallied a total time of 3:16.76 after competing in five events. Niemczyk first broke the program's freshman record in the 50 fly, touching the wall in 28.62 seconds. She rounded out the meet by posting times of 33.71 seconds in the 50 Back, 36.54 seconds in the 50 Breaststroke, 28.83 seconds in the 50 Free and 1:09.06 in the 100 IM.
UP NEXT
The Blue Jays return to the pool next on Saturday, October 26, hosting a double-dual meet against Husson and Plymouth State inside the Bruyette Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:00 am.
