Omar Named GNAC Swimmer of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman Sara Omar (Simsbury, Conn.) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's swimming and diving team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimmer of the Week, it was announced by the conference front office on Monday afternoon in its second weekly report of the 2025-26 season. The honor marks the first time that Omar earned a weekly conference accolade this season, and the first for the Blue Jays.
Omar continued her strong start to her collegiate career, pacing the Blue Jays at the Blue Jay Pentathlon, finishing in sixth place. She tallied a total time of 3:12.59 after competing in five events. Omar first competed in the 50 fly, touching the wall in 28.78 seconds. She rounded out the meet by posting times of 31.41 seconds in the 50 Back, 37.78 seconds in the 50 Breaststroke, 26.67 seconds in the 50 Free and 1:07.95 in the 100 IM.
UP NEXT
The Blue Jays return to the pool next on Friday, October 24, hosting a double-dual meet against Albertus Magnus and Plymouth State inside the Bruyette Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm.
