Bio

Alexandra Albert enters her fourth season as Head Coach of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs in 2025–26 after joining the Blue Jays in September 2022. She became the fourth head coach in women’s program history and the second in men’s program history. In addition to her coaching duties, Albert also serves as USJ’s Aquatics Director.

Albert wasted little time turning the Blue Jays around, guiding the men’s team to a second-place finish at the 2022–23 GNAC Championships—the best result in program history. The women’s team placed fourth, marking its highest finish since 2018–19. Under her leadership, USJ swimmers consistently shattered records, setting 10 new program marks during the 2022–23 campaign.

Albert took the reins of the USJ swimming and diving programs after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) under head coach Bill Ball. At CCSU, she contributed to all facets of the program, including student-athlete development, recruiting, and operations. She made an immediate impact with the Blue Devils, helping the team improve from a fourth-place Northeast Conference (NEC) finish to runner-up honors in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Albert served as an assistant swim coach for the West Hartford Aquatics Team (WHAT) in West Hartford, Conn. There, she prepared youth swimmers for competition by developing proper stroke technique and implementing tailored training plans and practice sessions while overseeing meet operations.

Albert also served as head swim coach at Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford, Conn., where she led all practices for swimmers ages five through 18. She supervised a team of assistant coaches, ensured practice safety, and created meet lineups.

Albert began her coaching career with the highly successful Blue Devil Aquatics/GRIT Aquatics program in New Britain, Conn. During her tenure, three athletes qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, while others advanced to the Junior National and U.S. National Championships.

As a student-athlete at CCSU, Albert was a member of the 2008 NEC and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship team and was named NEC Rookie of the Year that same season.

Originally from Wethersfield, Conn., Albert earned her bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism from Central Connecticut State University in 2011.
