Field Hockey Wins Third in Four Games, Downs Regis on the Road Saturday
WESTON, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) field hockey team earned a key Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory on Saturday evening, defeating Regis College 3-1 on the road at Regis Stadium in Weston, Mass. With the result, the Blue Jays have now won three of their last four games to open October, improving to 8-6 overall and 4-3 in GNAC play, while the Pride dropped their fifth straight, falling to 3-10 overall and 1-7 in the league.
USJ struck first midway through the opening quarter, as freshman forward Juliana Meglio (Watertown, Conn.) buried a feed from sophomore forward Grace Kociszewski (Thomaston, Conn.) at 7:23 to make it 1-0. The goal was Meglio's seventh of her rookie season.
Regis tied it late in the second quarter when Anna Miele-DeFelice scored her fourth goal of the year off an assist from Gabrielle Tolman at 28:45. The Blue Jays quickly answered just 51 seconds later, reclaiming the lead when Kociszewski finished a setup from senior forward Aurelia Barker (Thomaston, Conn.) at 29:36 to put USJ back in front, 2-1. The goal marked Kociszewski's team-leading 12th of the season.
USJ added insurance early in the second half, as junior forward Alyssa Milligan (Cumberland, R.I.) tallied her first goal of the 2025 season at 40:17, again assisted by Barker.
The Blue Jays controlled much of the action, outshooting Regis 16-6 overall and 13-4 in shots on goal, while holding a 7-1 edge in penalty corners. Junior goalkeeper Jaci Felix-Hull (East Lyme, Conn.) made three saves in the win, while Regis goalkeeper Allayna Martone stopped 10 shots in a strong effort.
Kociszewski fired a game-high five shots, all on target, while Meglio and Barker each finished with four shots. Barker led all players with two assists.
