Trinity Stops Women's Soccer at Home Tuesday Night, 3-0

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's soccer team was stopped during a non-conference match versus local foe Trinity College, 3-0, Tuesday evening at the USJ Soccer Field in West Hartford, Conn. With the result, the Blue Jays fell to 1-3-0 on the season, while the Bantams, who were reciving votes nationally in the most recent United Soccer Coaches (USC) rankings, improved to 3-0-0.

Trinity struck early and often in the first half, scoring all three of its goals before the halftime break. Elena Lindonen opened the scoring just 1:46 into the match off a pass from Addie Covey, before adding her second goal in the 18th minute. Emma Rose closed out the scoring in the 43rd minute, converting on a combination play from Sophia Simmons and Sara Rieger.

USJ struggled to generate offense against Trinity's backline, registering just six total shots with one on goal. Trinity controlled the pace and possession throughout, outshooting the Blue Jays 25-6 overall, including 12-1 in shots on target. The visitors also held an edge in corner kicks, 7-2.

Junior goalkeeper Madison Corcoran (Bristol, Conn.) and sophomore goalkeeper Erika Horne (Killingly, Conn.) shared time between the posts and combined to make eight saves for the Blue Jays. Corcoran got the start and played the first 54:38 of the match, finishing with three saves, while Horne played the final 35:22 and stopped a career-high five shots.

Trinity's goalkeepers Lily Bracken and Zoe Tamborello had a quiet night in net, but combined to post the Bantam's third-straight shutout to open the season.
