Women's Tennis Tabbed Second in GNAC Preseason Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. – The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) women's tennis team was selected to finish second in the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced Friday afternoon by the conference front office. The annual poll is voted upon by the league's five head coaches. The Blue Jays are set to open the 2024 season at home on Saturday, August 31, welcoming Bridgewater State University to the Elizabeth Ferry Speer Tennis Complex. First serve against the Bears is set for noon.

OFFICIAL GNAC RELEASE

Last season's GNAC champions Colby-Sawyer College were selected to three-peat in 2024, garnering 24 total points and four out of a possible five first-place votes. The Blue Jays then followed in second, receiving the final first-place tally and 17 poll points. Rounding out the rest of the poll was Regis College in third with 14 points, followed by Simmons University in fourth with 13 points and Albertus Magnus in fifth with seven points.

The top four teams qualify for the GNAC playoffs, which are set to begin with the semifinals on Saturday, October 12 at the site of the top two seeds. The winners advance to the GNAC Championship match on Saturday, October 19 at the site of the highest remaining seed.

USJ is coming off a 2023 campaign that saw them finish fourth in the GNAC standings and advanced the to the GNAC semifinals, where they fell to eventual champions Colby-Sawyer.
